Float Level Gauges and Magnetic Float Level Gauges

Although both float level meters and magnetic float level meters are instruments for measuring liquid level, they differ significantly in principle, use and function.

Float Level Meter

Float level gauges work on the basis of buoyancy, specifically, the displacement of the float under the action of the buoyancy of the medium. This displacement is transmitted to the displacement detection element through the torque tube, and then converted into a standard signal output to the secondary instrument. The resolution of the float level meter is equal to the measurement range of the level meter. When the float floats to a certain position with the liquid level, the reed switch at that position will turn on the corresponding resistance representing that position. The resistance value at the output represents the liquid level at that point. Float level meter can provide remote transmission function, that is to say, it can be converted into 4-20mA standard current signal output through the transmitter, to realize the function of display and adjustment instrument.

Magnetic Float Level Gauge

Magnetic Float Level Gauge is a field display instrument, its working principle is that when the float equipped with a magnet floats on the surface of the measured medium, with the change of the liquid level, the position of the magnet (i.e., the actual liquid level position) changes accordingly. This process of change through the magnetization system coupled to drive the two-color magnetic column flip, so as to display the liquid level position. In addition, the magnetic float level gauge also has a switch alarm function, can withstand high temperature and high pressure.

To summarize, the main difference between float level gauge and magnetic float level gauge is their working principle, usage and function.

Float level gauges are based on the principle of buoyancy and measure the liquid level by means of components such as floats and reed switches, while magnetic float level gauges utilize the principle of magnetism to detect changes in the liquid level position by means of floats equipped with magnets.
